Reconciliation Rocks Music Festival

17 – 19 JULY 2020

  • Featuring some of the region’s best known Indigenous and non-Indigenous performing artists
  • Indigenous showcase featuring art, culture, fashion, language workshops, exhibitions, storytelling and tours
  • Back in time showcase featuring: bush tucker tasting, weaving, regional Indigenous art exhibitions, fashion show and Gurrma (traditional underground oven restaurant)
  • Live performance and re-enactment of the landing of Captain Cook and his interactions with the Guugu Yimithirr bama
  • Launch of Reconciliation Rocks precinct and the Boathouse Redevelopment 
  • Key events hosted in partnership with our Indigenous communities
  • Display of regional Indigenous business, innovations and economic opportunities

Discovery Festival

24 – 26 JULY 2020

  • Arrival of HM Bark Endeavour replica and Encounters Shore to Ship Exhibition
  • Live performance and re-enactment of the landing of Captain Cook and his interactions with the Guugu Yimithirr bama
  • Cooktown to the Cape Agriculture and Environment Expo
  • The Arts Market Regional Art Expo
  • History tours, talks, street parade and stories from the Gold Rush
  • Botanic Gardens tours, Banks Florilegium and Vera Scarth-Johnson botanic art exhibition, garden party, botanic art workshops
  • Regional Produce Showcase, paddock to plate cooking demonstrations, lunch and dinners
  • Kidz Zone – fun fair and side show alley
